Yuffie Kisaragi – a Materia hunter found in various forests across the planet after the events that enfolded at the site of Mythril Mine – as an optional player has negligible impact on the games main story line. She is not incorporated into the story line but if the player has recruited her, some changes are made in the playing sequences and various scenes.
Character
Yuffie is a fun lovable character. Yuffie has a cocky, proud, brash personality, and she can be aggressive. Yuffie is a tomboy and acts flagrantly towards her goals, showing no restrains. She bastes in the glory of self-exclamation and flatters herself with honorable titles such as “Great Ninja Yuffie”, “The Single White Rose of Wutai” and states everyone is “Dyin’ to talk to a babe like [her]”. She is, in her defense, adored by a plethora of fans. Adding to her rebellious outspoken personality is her strong disdain for upholding traditions and cultural norms. And this comes despite being the daughter of Wutai’s leader, Godo Kisaragi. Yuffie’s rebellious ways to Watai’s traditional ways is a source of clashes with her father.
Carrying on the personality of a fun girl everyone eventually falls for, true to Final Fantasy character, is a warrior. Yuffie is a Ninja (with a unique Mashup of a cross/ninja blades/ sword for a weapon – a large Shuriken) and a thief. She is a Ninja and a cowboy, and a rebellious cocky tomboy.
Yuffie desires to restore her homeland Wutai to the glorious nation it once was. To the glorious righteous days before it was conquered by the Shinra Electric Power Company. Despite her obnoxious personality, Yuffie is friendly, helpful, and optimistic and willingly helps the party in their battles.
Subject of two running jokes in the series, Yuffie’s character adds to the appeal to the light side of gameplay. One is her motion sickness, as she gets ill whenever on a moving vehicle, be it an airship or a boat. The other is her obsession with Materia. In Final Fantasy VII, she claims she wants Materia because Shinra banned it in Wutai and she wants to use it to restore Wutai’s glory. However, her obsession is intact in her appearances before and after the game, having found various other reasons to hunt the magical baubles.
Having lost the war with the Shinra Electric Power Company – dreaded evil corporation- Godo Kisaragi, Yuffie’s father decided to turn the country into a tourist resort! Trained in martial arts, adding to her already arrogant rebellious nature, Yuffie could not stand this! She revolted – she ran off and became a theif. Using her Ninjututu (martial arts style known for its use of long range weapons). Having separated herself with her father, Yuffie further became cocky in nature and focused towards rectifying things. Despite of her reclusive nature she joined a party of like-minded. She does help out main characters at various points along the plot line of the game.
The young girl steals small spheres of crystallized Spirit Energy also known as Materia. She tries to become stronger in hope someday she might be able to change the situation of her country. This Ninja girl is short-tempered and has unique fighting skills. Her unusual ability of throwing allows her to throw any weapon from inventory.
Yuffie Shuriken Sword
Yuffie’s 4-way shuriken, more commonly known as a Blade Star, is quite an inimitable weapon and requires excessive experience to handle it. Which Yuffie rightfully has. Shuriken is the weapon from the ways of ancient Japanese Ninjas. Concealed and easily improvised, they would create shurikens out of everyday household objects like forks, toothpicks, needles, blades – anything for stabbing and slashing. Her shuriken adds flexibility in a fight, she can stab her enemies, slash, or throw it from a range. It’s designed like a cross with a swivel center. A four way blade bolted at the center. Swivel allows the wielder to rotate and adjust angles to preference adding deadly flexibility in the hands of a master user.
Appearance
Youngest member of the party, Yuffie is usually depicted as the shortest. She has a cute face adorned by short black hair which give a shade of brown under certain conditions of light and flare. In Final Fantasy VII, Yuffie wears a white headband with a green, sleeveless turtleneck jumper that bares her stomach and a pair of tan shorts with no belt and an unbuttoned/unzipped fly. Over her left arm she wears a protective gauntlet that originates from a single cauldron over her shoulder, presumably meant to also act as a shield. Strap tied diagonally across her chest and round’ her back holds the gauntlet in place. Parts of her right arm and left leg are covered with Ninja-mail mesh, while the rest of the thigh is covered with an additional piece of armor covers. Orange fingerless gloves, a smaller wrist-covering gauntlet on her right arm and white leg warmers with orange sneakers complete her whacky, fun personality outfit.
