About Kenpachi Zaraki

Kenpachi Zaraki is the fearsome anti-hero of Bleach and captain of the 11th Division of the Gotei 13, with the tiny Yachiru Kusajishi as his lieutenant – and very much the one in charge. His wild look is part of his appeal: a ragged, sleeveless captain’s haori and hair styled into spikes tipped with bells, which creator Tite Kubo has said is the hardest thing in the series to draw.

Over time Kenpachi also becomes a source of comedy, and his loyalty to his division is legendary. He lives for battle and loves a good fight more than anything, seeing injury and even death as nothing compared with a worthy opponent. His squad, with its own code of honour separate from the Soul Society’s rules, is the most bloodthirsty in the Gotei 13.
