About the Imperial Gladiator Sword
The gladius was the primary sword of Rome’s foot soldiers. Early Roman swords resembled the Greek xiphos, and the Romans also adopted designs from the Celtiberians during the conquest of Hispania – which is why the sword is also known as the gladius hispaniensis, or Hispanic sword.
Rome’s first gladiators were prisoners of war and seasoned fighters, each equipped differently to keep contests balanced. Many swords were used in the arena, and the imperial sword reproduced here is linked to Emperor Otto IV in the twelfth century. Here are the details:
- A replica of the imperial gladiator sword.
- 33 inches long overall.
- A 23-inch blade and a 10-inch handle.
- Quality stainless steel.
- Weighs 1.10 kg.

- The ornately moulded pewter handle sets it apart.
- Elegant enough for home décor or as a gift.
